Pêcherosée  a écritUPDATE: Paris Ordered to Court, May Return to Jail

Less than a day after Paris Hilton left jail to serve the rest of her 45-day sentence at home, a judge has ordered Hilton to appear at a scheduled courtroom hearing at 9 a.m. where it may be decided that she return behind bars.

Though, initially, Hilton was going to be teleconferenced in to the meeting, Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer has demanded that the L.A. County Sheriff Department to fetch the heiress from her home and ferry her to the courthouse.

In addition to asking the court to send Hilton back to jail, prosecutors are also seeking to hold L.A. County Sheriff’s officials in contempt for releasing her early.

At 2:09 a.m. on Thursday, sheriff's officials released Hilton from the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, California, due to an undisclosed “medical condition." She was then fitted with an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet and sent to finish out the last 40 days of her sentence under house arrest at her four-bedroom, three-bath home.

(Hilton was originally ordered to serve a 45-day jail sentence for violating her probation, but last month the term was reduced to 23 days on account of good behavior before she had even set foot in jail. While she only spent a little more than three days in the slammer, she was credited with having served five days of her sentence.)

The decision by Sheriff Lee Baca to reassign Hilton to house arrest angered prosecutors and Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer, who specifically ruled during sentencing that Hilton was not allowed to serve house detention.

Late Thursday afternoon, Sauer issued the order for Hilton to return to court after the city attorney filed a petition demanding that Hilton be returned to jail and to show cause why Baca shouldn't be held in contempt of court.

"What transpired here is outrageous," county Supervisor Don Knabe told the Associated Press, adding that Hilton's return home "gives the impression of ... celebrity justice being handed out.”

Baca dismissed the criticism, saying the decision was made based on advice from medical professionals.

"It isn't wise to keep a person in jail with her problem over an extended period of time and let the problem get worse," Baca told the Los Angeles Times on Thursday.

"My message to those who don't like celebrities is that punishing celebrities more than the average American is not justice," Baca said.

Hilton’s legal trouble began last September when she failed a sobriety test after police saw her weaving down a street in her Mercedes-Benz.

She pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was sentenced to 36 months' probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines.

In the following months, Hilton was pulled over on two separate occasions by cops who discovered her driving on a suspended license.

Hours after her release, Hilton issued the following statement through her attorney.

"I want to thank the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and staff of the Century Regional Detention Center for treating me fairly and professionally," she said. "I am going to serve the remaining 40 days of my sentence. I have learned a great deal from this ordeal and hope that others have learned from my mistakes."

Pauvre petite fille. Elle va être oubligé de faire ses 45 jours.
