Pêcherosée a écritRicki Lake: How I Lost Over 100 lbs
Wednesday May 9, 2007
Once weighing 250 pounds, newly transformed former talk show host Ricki Lake has revealed exclusively to Us Weekly the secrets behind her 123-pound, size-4 shape.
Lake, 38, who just debuted The Business of Being Born, her documentary about home birth and midwifery, sits down with Us and explains exactly how she got thin – and finally made peace with her shape after a painful past.
On crash dieting in 1991:
“… I went on this extreme diet. I used to faint because I wasn’t eating and I was always exercising.”
On the most exciting thing about her new weight:
“For the longest time, when I was very heavy, I couldn’t cross my legs. I couldn’t physically do it. LOVE that I can cross my legs now ... Even my shoe size is changing. My Jimmy Choos are too big now.”
On what she thinks of super-skinny actresses:
“I think I have no wrinkles because I always had fat on my face. Really skinny girls age so fast.”
What painful secret caused Rickie to gain weight in her childhood? How did she feel posing in a swimsuit for Us? For all these details – and more exclusive pics – on Ricki’s dramatic (and non-surgical) slim-down, pick up the new issue of Us Weekly on newsstands now.

Everyone has what it takes to be sexy. Let go of those inhibitions and insecurities and allow Carmen Electra take you from ho-hum to hot.
Millions have experienced Carmen Electra’s vivacious charm and drop-dead sex appeal from afar--from her roles on Baywatch and MTV’s Singled Out, to her dozens of movie and television appearances, to her wildly popular Aerobic Striptease videos. Now, in How to Be Sexy, she shows you that even if you weren’t born with an alluring aura (or killer curves), you can learn how to be super sexy.
Carmen explains that sexiness starts with confidence, personality, and a willingness to laugh at yourself, so your inner glow will radiate outward and make the world sit up and take notice. Then she reveals the tricks of the trade for upgrading your appearance, with step-by-step instructions for hair styling and makeup application, and choosing fashion that flatters – including tips and techniques from some of the most talented stylists, makeup artists, and coaches in Hollywood. Finally, she shows you how to strut your stuff with chapters on body language and the lost art of seduction.

Pêcherosée a écritVictoria Beckham: The Price of Beauty
Jay Hopkins; Anthony Harvey/WireImage.com; Jay Hopkins; Fame PicturesIn March 1993, Victoria Adams was an unknown 18-year-old dancer who posed for a roll of 36 photos, hoping to relaunch her career.
Fourteen years later, the transformation of a pretty girl from Hertfordshire, England, to an international style and beauty icon (including her 1999 marriage to soccer star David Beckham) is astounding. Yes, force of will played a role, but at this point, so has major bank.
Us Weekly interviewed the experts to break down the price of being Posh.
Among our experts' findings:
Cheeks ($3,000):
“They’re more sculpted, maybe from weight loss or buccal fat removal,”says New York surgeon Zachary Gerut.
Lips ($2,000):
Both bottom and lower are more prominent, suggesting Juvéderm or collagen injections every few months, says Gerut.
Eyes ($8,000):
“Her eyebrows drooped and now they’re arched,” Gerut tells Us. “In my opinion, that’s a forehead lift done beautifully, not Botox.”
Nose ($11,000):
Posh’s streamlined snout could be the result of nasal refinement surgery, NYC plastic surgeon Geoffrey Tobias tells Us. “The bridge looks thinner, and the tip is narrower and slightly turned up,” he says.
Chest ($10,000):
Beckham has dropped 20 pounds since 1993, estimates NYC internist Marc Siegel. “Most women have smaller breasts as they lose weight, not bigger,” Gerut says, speculating the roundness is due to implants.
For more pictures of Victoria before she became Posh Spice, check out the new issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands this week.
