Bonham Carter Is Pregnant


A Room With A View actress Helena Bonham Carter is expecting her second child with her director boyfriend Tim Burton. The couple already have a three-year-old son, Billy Raymond Burton. Their new baby is due in December. Bonham Carter's spokesperson Karon Maskill tells website People.com, "They are very happy to be expecting their second child later this year." Bonham Carter and Burton, who live in London, got together after he directed her in the 2001 movie Planet Of The Apes. She will appear opposite Burton favorite Johnny Depp in the director's upcoming musical adaptation of Sweeney Todd, which also stars Sacha Baron Cohen and Alan Rickman.

Winehouse Rushed to Hospital


British pop star Amy Winehouse has sparked fears for her health after she was rushed to a hospital on Wednesday. The hitmaker - who was nominated for three MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday - was taken to the University College Hospital (UCLH) in London, suffering from "severe exhaustion." Shane O'Neill, a spokesperson for the star's record label Island/Universal, says, "Amy was admitted to the UCLH this morning, suffering from severe exhaustion. She was discharged this afternoon and has been advise to take complete rest. All scheduled performances are now postponed." Winehouse initially sparked concerns for her health after canceling a string of concerts last month, citing "exhaustion" and was ordered by doctors to rest. During a comeback concert in Cornwall, England, in July, the 23-year-old stunned fans by hitting herself repeatedly on the head with a microphone and walking off-stage midway through her final song. Winehouse was also recently chastised by her father for her hectic party lifestyle. She says, "Yes I've been bad. And yes I still get the odd rollicking (telling off) from my dad. In fact, he sat me down the other day and gave me a talking to about missing gigs. I got into trouble, but I'm not gonna do that any more."

«On peut me traiter de gros, de moche, de pas drôle, mais je refuse que l'on me traite de menteur», affirme à l'AFP ce jeune homme, effectivement un peu empâté, né en Floride dans une famille d'immigrés cubains il y a 29 ans sous le nom de Mario Lavandeira.

Mal rasé, cheveux teints en jaune, orange ou bleu selon les jours et l'humeur, homosexuel revendiqué, adepte des tenues voyantes, Lavandeira n'a pas percé comme acteur à Hollywood. «Mais Perez Hilton est devenu une marque», revendique-t-il fièrement.

L'histoire commence de façon banale, lorsqu'en septembre 2004, il crée son bloc-notes en ligne consacré aux riches et célèbres, «parce que j'adore la vie des stars». Il choisit son surnom en référence à l'héritière Paris Hilton, reine des nuits de Hollywood.

Perezhilton.com présente sur fond rose des photos des célébrités lors d'événements mondains ou en public, en ajoutant d'une écriture malhabile des commentaires, très souvent à connotation sexuelle. Rien ne le fait reculer, surtout pas le mauvais goût et il bâtit ainsi son succès et sa renommée.

Sur son site, il a traité Victoria Beckham de salope parce qu'elle avait affirmé que les blogueurs sur les célébrités n'avaient pas de tripes. Il dessine aussi régulièrement des antennes d'extra-terrestre sur la tête de la petite Suri, fille de Tom Cruise et Katie Holmes.

Chez Perez Hilton, la plupart des jeunes stars ont des traces de poudre blanche sous le nez ou de la bave aux lèvres. Il évoque aussi à l'occasion l'un des tabous les plus forts de Hollywood. «Allez, tout le monde sait que t'es une pédale», écrit-il à l'adresse d'un lauréat d'Oscar.

Certaines vedettes ont menacé de le traîner en justice pour diffamation, mais l'ascension de Perez semble irrésistible: il s'apprête à lancer sa propre émission de télévision sur la chaîne musicale VH1 et son site a déjà reçu selon lui plus de huit millions de visites en un jour.

Plus conservatrice, la société spécialisée ComScore Media Metrix lui reconnaît 2,6 millions de visiteurs quotidiens, et tout de même une place parmi les 10 premiers sites Internet de divertissement aux États-Unis.

Même s'il dit travailler 17 heures par jour à son site, approvisionné en ragots par un réseau soigneusement tissé, son énorme popularité lui permet de vendre des espaces publicitaires jusqu'à 45 000 dollars par semaine, selon un analyste récemment cité par le New York Times.

Et à croire que les stars aiment être insultées, quelques semaines après l'accrochage virtuel avec Victoria Beckham, Perez Hilton était invité à interviewer la Spice Girl lors d'une émission sur la grande chaîne NBC.

Perez et Paris Hilton sont désormais amis et il se retrouve lui-même sur les photos des paparazzi.

«J'ai contribué à changer la façon dont les gens consomment les informations sur les célébrités. Ils ne veulent pas attendre le prochain numéro des magazines (...) ils les veulent dès que ça se passe, et je le leur apporte», dit-il.

Ses frasques lui ont attiré quelques ennuis, surtout de la part des propriétaires des photos qu'il montre sur son site, sans payer le moindre droit. «C'est mon avocat qui s'en charge», affirme-t-il, éludant la question avec bonne humeur: «La seule chose qui me fait peur, c'est la mort».
