Rapper Nas and his 7-months-pregnant wife Kelis are splitting, her rep confirms to Usmagazine.com.

"I can confirm that she filed for divorce," her rep said in a statement. "We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time."

A lawyer for Kelis -- most known for her hit "Milkshake" -- filed divorce papers Thursday afternoon citing verbal abuse and infidelity, according to Vibe, which first reported the break up.

In February, Nas said he was "so happy" after finding out Kelis was expecting their first child. (He is also dad to a 15-year-old from a prior relationship.)

The couple met in 2002 at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty thrown by Diddy.
