Eli Roth Almost Inglouriously Dies



Mexico is now dangerous for another reason. Eli Roth almost got stung to death 10 days ago off the coast of Careyes.


The "Inglourious Basterds" star -- and winner of Jew/Not a Jew -- was kayaking a mile from shore when he got pulled under by a whirlpool. Eli tells TMZ he tried climbing on a rock that was covered in sea urchins, with nobody in sight, but then a huge wave engulfed him ... he tried gaining his balance on the rocks and stepped on the urchins, which unleashed scores of spikes into his body.

Eli screamed for help. A nearby fisherman saved him. The doctor couldn't anesthetize his foot because of swelling, so the doc held up a needle and tweezers and said, "Be brave."

And get this. When Eli got to shore, writhing in pain, a dude in a nearby boat came over -- drink in hand -- and asked Eli to meet his kid. Eli said, "Um, really, I just almost died out there." The dude persisted, and his son -- a 20-year-old who had too much to drink -- came over for a schmoozefest. Eli held out his bloody hand and the meet and greet was over.

The Bear Jew was stung 200 times -- pins in the bottom of his feet and palms.

E.R. is in pain but ok. He tells us he's actually doing something more painful tonight ... going to the People's Choice Awards.

Hanes Suspends Charlie Sheen Commercials



Arrests for domestic violence never go over well with sponsors! As expected, Hanes has pulled their commercials for the Comfortsoft line of undershirts featuring the lovable Charlie Sheen.

The ads were supposed stop airing in 2010, but due to his spousal knife-pointing, they were taken off early.

"We suspended the commercials on Dec. 28," said Hanes spokesman Matthew Hall. "Some were seen on the 25th, 26th, 27th as we could not reach the networks over the holiday weekend."

Charlie's contract ends this year, but as you can imagine, no other spots are planned.

"We do have a print ad in some trade publications using Mr. Sheen that are scheduled to run this spring," continued Hall. And due to publishing schedules, those ads could not be changed.

Maybe they'll sell a lot of wife beaters this year!

Casey's Final Days



This is disturbing.

Heiress Casey Johnson spent her final days surrounded by filth in her rented Hollywood Hills home. She lived without utilities because she couldn't afford to pay them and the house was filled with garbage complete with rats in the swamp-like pool!

Casey dealt with her demons by self-medicating with OxyContin, Klonopin, Adderrall and recreational drugs like marijuana and ecstacy. Her familly desperately wanted her to go to rehab, cutting her off from the family fortune until she went.

Casey went to rehab a few months ago at her family's urging, but unfortunately she checked out early and refused to go back. Instead she found Tila Tequila and they embarked on a whirlwind romance leading to an engagement.

A friend of Casey's says of their engagement video, showing the women in their underwear and Casey clearly in an altered state:

"[Tequila] was taking advantage of a sick girl. Casey would never have done that had she been in her right mind. She looked totally out of it in the video."

Casey also suffered from diabetes and was taken to intensive care with diabetic comas twice in the last year!

Casey's initial autopsy has been inconclusive and they are awaiting the toxicology results in about six weeks. The heiress' body will be flown back east to be buried.

Sounds like she had a truly sad life, but didn't reach out for the help her family wanted to give her. What a shame.

Lady GaGa Takes On Fashion Week Again!

Lady GaGa is set to take the stage again during New York Fashion Week next month.

But rather than tickling the ivories for Marc Jacobs, Gagaloo will be performing at amfAR's annual New York gala fundraiser on February 10th.

Another mayjah attendee includes Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish, who will be honored at the event.

Sounds like it's going to be THE place to be come February.

With her divorce to Jon finally behind her, Kate Gosselin started off 2010 by spending some serious quality time with a new guy — and their date lasted until the wee hours of the morning. Celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson, who has tended to the tresses of Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway, spent nearly 20 hours last week meticulously adding hundreds of extensions to Kate’s hair. Luckily, they both agree that their time together was a smashing success. “Kate was an absolute sweetheart, I loved her,” says Gibson, who also appears on the TLC show What Not To Wear. While he knew that transforming the look that launched a thousand Halloween wigs would be a challenge, Gibson reveals it was the super-short, spiky hair in the back of Kate’s notorious former hairstyle that proved most daunting. “Bonding extensions to those little hairs really took time. But in all those hours, she didn’t complain once. She was so open to whatever I suggested, and willing to try just about anything.” Well, with one notable exception: At first, Gibson reports, Kate was reluctant to let go of the thick, jaw-length shock of hair in the front of her face in favor of bangs. “She wasn’t sure about bangs,” says Gibson, “But I find many women have that one thing they’re afraid to let go of, that one ‘security blanket’ part of their look, whether it’s a fear of going shorter or darker or something. But once they finally let go and embrace the change, they always love it.” Indeed, Kate gave in on the bangs and was thrilled with the sleek, layered look Gibson achieved. “It’s good to have hair again,” she says. “I know this will be more upkeep than my old look, but I’m ready for it. I’m just grateful I don’t have to go through the awkward growing-out process of short hair. INSIDE STORY: Casey Johnson Was 'Erratic,' 'Troubled' Before Death



Casey Johnson's death at age 30 didn't entirely surprise those in her inner circle.

Friends tell PEOPLE the troubled Johnson & Johnson heiress led an increasingly erratic existence in the months before she was found dead in her Los Angeles home Tuesday. "She had so many ups and downs, but lately, it wasn't very good," a pal tells PEOPLE. "She tried rehab, wanted things to change … but it didn't stick."

The source says Johnson had recently been acting more and more bizarre. "Just a few months ago, she was living like a crazy person," the pal says. "Super erratic behavior. People could barely be around her."

Johnson, an openly gay socialite engaged to Tila Tequila, had a history of diabetes. Her cause of death appears to be natural, according to officials, but toxicology reports are still pending.

"Casey thought being with a woman would make her edgy," another friend tells PEOPLE. "She never had luck with men because she was so weird and awkward."

Strained too were relationships with other friends and family. The friend says she spent a lot of time with Johnson until a year ago – when she stopped talking to her. "She was very troubled. Several of her family members didn't speak to her. The other Johnson kids felt she damaged their name."

Johnson was estranged from her family because of her crazy antics and mishandling of her fortune, friends say. "Her family couldn't handle her behavior and lack of respect, so they cut her off," the pal says. "They thought it would teach her to turn things around."

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom to Be Parents Soon?


The bump watch could soon start for Khloe Kardashian.

The reality star and her Los Angeles Laker husband Lamar Odom, who got married in September just a month after meeting, are "not doing anything" to prevent her from getting pregnant, Kardashian said in a radio interview Wednesday on Valentine in the morning.

Kardashian stopped short of admitting that the couple are actively trying for a baby, but says they would like to be parents together. "We both want to," she says. "We're in an ideal situation. We're just happy together.”

However, Odom might have a faster timeframe in mind. Kardashian says her hubby wants a baby "tomorrow." In fact, Odom rushed out for pregnancy tests after Kardashian had an upset stomach on New Year’s Day.

"I just woke up and start throwing up all day long," she recalls. "He was like, 'Yes, you're pregnant,' and I was like, ‘No, I’m just sick.' "

Kardashian is a new aunt to three-week-old Mason Disick, son of sister Kourtney and longtime boyfriend Scott Disick.

Now that's an affectionate couple! Fergie and Josh Duhamel arrived around 11 p.m. for the "friends and family" opening festivities at STK Miami Beach. The pop star massaged her husband's neck and ran her fingers through his hair during their late-night meal with Fergie's father. "Fergie and Josh looked very much in love as Josh was rubbing her arm to warm her up," a source tells us. According to the source, the two even shared bites of food from each other's plates.

Décidément, Brad Pitt et Angelina Jolie suscitent de plus en plus les rumeurs sur une rupture imminente. Angelina aurait fichu son compagnon à la porte, monsieur étant trop ivre au goût de madame.

Que les fans de Jennifer Aniston ne crient pas victoire trop vite, toutefois. Le 16 décembre, Brad était en virée avec ses amis. La tequila a coulé à flot et la rage d'Angie l'a accueilli sur le ponton de leur maison. Dans une interview consacrée au célèbre animateur américain, David Letterman, Robert Downey Jr., Sherlock Holmes à l'écran (le 3 février 2010, chez nous), a laissé filer quelques détails croustillants et surprenants sur l'éventuelle suite du film de Guy Ritchie.

Il se pourrait en effet que Sherlock Holmes et son acolyte, le docteur Watson, incarné par Jude Law, partagent plus que des sentiments amicaux. Et fort du succès américain du premier film, le sequel miserait là-dessus.

Mais on ne rigole pas avec l'homosexualité d'un personnage littéraire historique. Les ayant droits du romancier écossais Arthur Conan Doyle ont fait savoir que si la piste de l'homosexualité était sérieusement envisagée, ils supprimeraient leur accord pour l'adaptation cinématographique.

Andrea Plunket, responsable des droits de la saga Holmes espère qu'il s'agisse d'une simple plaisanterie : "l'homosexualité n'est pas dans l'esprit des livres, j'espère que Robert plaisantait, sinon il faudra retirer notre accord pour toute nouvelle adaptation".

L'homosexualité est-elle encore affaire de plaisanterie ? A tel point que Sherlock Holmes deviendrait-il hétéro ?

Si vous avez regardé hier soir sur France 2 le magnifique Un long dimanche de fiançailles de Jean-Pierre Jeunet, vous vous êtes dit : Mon Dieu qu'elle joue bien Audrey Tautou !

Et sur les planches, c'est encore mieux ! A ce qu'il parait la si mimi Audrey sera dès le 16 Février prochain au Théâtre de la MAdeleine dans la pièce La Maison de poupée où elle campera Nora, une femme qui laisse mari et gamins pour aller voir ailleurs.

Outre la belle Tautou, c'est la charmante Mélanie Laurent (Inglorious Basterds) qui fera ses premiers pas au théâtre dans Promenade de Santé, une pièce écrite par le fils de Guy Bedos. L'histoire ? Celle d'une relation amoureuse entre deux "fous" d'un asile psychiatrique.

Apparement, l'année 2010 sera théâtrale ou ne sera pas !
