Creator James E. Reilly Will Remain at the Helm as Consulting Producer and Head Writer While Lisa de Cazotte Continues as Executive Producer

BURBANK, Calif. � May 26, 2006 � NBC announced the renewal of daytime's youngest drama "Passions" for an eighth season and that the show's creator James E. Reilly will continue his role as consulting producer and head writer and Lisa de Cazotte will continue as executive producer. The announcement was made today by Kevin Reilly, President, NBC Entertainment and Annamarie Kostura, Vice President, Daytime Programs.

" 'Passions' continues to attract a loyal fan base as well as a youthful audience that appreciates its wildly inventive storylines," said Kevin Reilly. "We are glad to continue our creative relationship with the show as a reflection of our commitment to daytime programming."

"Jim and Lisa are a winning combination," added Kostura. "Their enthusiasm and love of the genre has created fun, fresh storytelling and we're thrilled to continue our relationship with them for what promises to be another imaginative season."
NBC's "Passions," which debuted in July 1999, is the newest drama to be introduced to daytime television and is the only daytime drama launched in the last decade that remains on the air. "Passions" continues to excel among younger viewers, ranking #2 for the season among women 18-34 and 18-24 behind only NBC's "Days of our Lives," and ranking #1 among girls 12-17.
The Emmy Award winning daytime drama combines quirky characters with traditional love stories to generate continual interest from the daytime community. "Passions" has been nominated for 27 Emmy Awards, winning four. And, this past year was nominated for two NAACP Image Award nominations and won a GLAAD Media Award and an AFTRA American Scene Award.
The series has successfully created unique online campaigns with "Passions Red" and "Passions Vendetta," launched a popular clothing line this spring (www.CraneCouture.com), and recently announced the formation of an online spin-off titled "The Cove," which will premiere exclusively online later this year.
Based on the rich history and mystery of the harbor community of Harmony, "Passions" explores the lives, loves and losses of four core families: the Cranes, the Lopez-Fitzgeralds, the Bennetts and the Russells, each of whom have their own distinct and diverse challenges and desires.
"Passions" is the creation of celebrated daytime drama scribe James E. Reilly, who is considered by many industry insiders to be one of the most innovative and prolific writers of his time.

J'ai manqué Passions mais a ce qu'il pareil Siren a été dans la douche pendant que Fox était là.Pauvre Kay même si dans le passé elle a fait des choses affreuse je suis triste pour elle.J'aimerais mieux voir Charity que Siren.

Siren est la Rebecca nouvelle génération je crois elle coure après tous se qui bouge.Je trouve qu'Heidi Mueller (Kay) et Adrian Bellani(Miguel2   ont une belle chimie ensemble je n'aime pas le nouveau Fox dommage que Justin Hartley est quitter et que sa série Aquaman n'est pas marché maudite CW

John Reilly (Alistair Crane aka The Monk)
The monk’s identity has been revealed, and he couldn’t be any further from a man of God -- he’s Alistair Crane! The malicious manipulator had led everyone to believe he’s been in a coma, but all the while he was plotting to steal the mysterious chalice and seek revenge against his enemies. Check out our interview with John Reilly as he talks about his character’s latest evil scheme.

How far ahead did they tell you that you were the monk? Were you surprised?
Well, I knew someone was running around as a monk who knew everybody, knew Whitney. I was suspicious. And then I found out a few weeks ago. I was a bit surprised as I hope the audience will be, too.



Before the reveal, another actor (Sky McDougall) was playing the monk. Did you have to catch up on what the monk had been doing?
No, because once I start revealing myself, I recap in Alistair’s conversation what went on before. So I didn’t have to go back and read.

Are you glad you didn’t have to run around in a robe for two months?
Thank God for that! The robe is made of raw wool, and I’m allergic to wool like that. It was a little dicey for me to put that on. At night, I had to take a cold shower to get rid of the itching and then use lotion.
Did you enjoy being part of this twist?
Oh, sure! It’s always very interesting to see how the story twists and turns so much. It’s fun to see what I’m doing next. “I’m doing what? Oh, I see... oookay!” (Laughs) I think NBC should advertise this show as, “Passions. It’s different. Embrace the difference.”

Why does Alistair want the chalice?
Why? Because it gives him total power! He’s read all about this chalice. Why should the church have it and not use it? Alistair can use it. He’s a billionaire already so he doesn’t need money – he just wants power! Absolute, unadulterated power!

Does Alistair still love Rachel?
I think what he’s always wanted to do is control Rachel. She’s a plaything for him. Control is a big part of his make-up. He loves control, especially over women. His appetite is huge when it comes to women, specifically women like her. The reason he goes after her is because she was able to thwart him. That’s why he always liked Katherine, too – she fought him eyeball-to-eyeball. He likes that. It excites him. His relationship with women is very strange. (Laughs)

What’s been your favorite Alistair evil moment?
Oh, there are so many. My favorite moments are when he has everyone together and verbally accosts them all. He really goes for the gonads. (Laughs) He hits them where they live, in their minds, in their hearts. He makes sure they know he is in control. Those are the moments that are fun to play. Like at his wedding to Theresa.

How did you keep busy while you were off-screen and Alistair was in his fake coma?
Well, I have a daughter who’s in high school, so I couldn’t really go off anywhere. She has school, and you know, you want to stick around. No vacation, just errands.

Are you ready to get back into the thick of things?
Yes!
