week marks the 30-year anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death, and what better way to remember The King than by watching one of his worst performance meltdowns?
No one can dispute that Elvis was one of the world’s greatest entertainers and a consummate performer–and maybe that’s why this video is so unsettling.
Things start to fall apart at around 01:39, shortly after the spoken word section of the song. Like a pro, Elvis laughs it off and keeps on going... but then unlike a pro, he keeps screwing up.
Sure, we’ve all heard the stories about how the "last days" for Elvis were rough; involving a lot of prescrïption drugs, bloating, and comeback attempts. But does anyone actually remember it being quite this bad?
...Anyone?
