The X Factor USA Results Recap: Britney Spears Sent Talented Teen Home on 11/01/2012

The X Factor USA held its results show on Thursday, thinning out the top 16 down to the top 12. That meant that one member from each team was asked to go home. But getting to that point was an arduous and often sad process as far as each mentor was concerned.

Take the case of Britney Spears who had four very big talents who showed musical prowess who collectively went way beyond their young ages.

The first of Brit's group to be safe was Beatrice Miller who seemed absolutely shocked that she was called out by Spears to continue on with the show. Next to learn that she would also be part of future X Factor sing-offs was Carly Rose Sonenclar, a frontrunner since the beginning of this TV reality show competition.

At that point, it was down to Diamond White and Arin Ray. These two crooners had to sing for their future, a tough job for anyone and an even tougher job when you are still just a teenager finding your way in and around the very complex world of professional singing.

While both of these amazing performers did really well when each had to sing for his/her life, one ultimately had to go per the rules of this popular FOX show. Arin sang first, and gained kudos from the judges. Then Diamond did the same, and with the same result.

Unfortunately, on X Factor last night, Britney Spears had to choose between these two and she regrettably picked Ray to continue and Diamond White to go home. It was a sad moment but the smiling 13-year-old was a good sport, telling Brit she wasn't mad at her given her decision. Talk about a mature talent who will go far no matter what.

'The X Factor USA' 2012 November 1 Elimination—1432 Stuns Demi Lovato, Battles Sister C

Just a day after The X Factor USA 2012's first live show, each mentor was charged with the heartbreaking task of eliminating a hopeful from his or her own group during the November 1 elimination round. After watching Demi Lovato, Britney Spears and LA Reid each make a difficult cut, Simon Cowell closed out the two-hour episode with his own challenging decision as he forced a battle between two of his groups and ultimately sent one packing.

Lyric 145, 1432 (formerly LYLAS), Sister C and Emblem3 trooped out on stage with hosts Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian to begin the elimination. Simon said he "genuinely loved all four" performances and "even up until five minutes ago I haven't made my mind up". Eager to keep things moving along, Mario pressed him to advance an act to the top 12. After a pause, Simon gave the go ahead to Emblem3, who played to the audience before heading off-stage. A moment later, he opted to save Lyric 145, leaving Sister C and 1432 to battle it out for the sole remaining spot in the top 12.

Sister C, a talented country act comprised of (surprise!) sisters Celbi, Cirby and Carli Manchaca, was up first with "When I Look at You". They looked less than amused to be singing for their lives, and as a result projected a strange kind of coolness as they performed. They would've done themselves a good service by at least trying to pretend they were okay with their predicament. Still, they're talented and they sounded very good together.

LA Reid, who earlier booted hopeful David Correy from his Over 25s group, thought they got the song choice right and appreciated "middle C's" soul. Regardless of the outcome, he hoped to see them around. Teens mentor Britney Spears was "pleasantly surprised" and enjoyed watching their "eye of the tiger" determination. Demi Lovato, who helms the Young Adults group, called their voices "phenomenal" and said them leaving would be "a mistake".

1432 followed with Demi's "Skyscraper", a daring choice for a save-me song for Lauren Jauregui, Dinah Jane Hansen, Camila Cabello, Ally Brooke and Normani Hamilton. And, as it happened, a good one that was rife with emotion. They should probably spend less time singing solos and work on harmonizing more as a group because they're stunning when they do, but it was very good. And nearly all of them burst into tears when they finished singing. LA said "when the going gets tough, the tough get going. You did it, and I'm proud". Britney confessed "you guys got me". But the biggest compliment came from Demi, who said "I don't know who that song is by but regardless you did better than the original singer".

After a break and with time running out, it was decision time. Simon said there was a "gap in the market for a group like" Sister C and that though he likes both of them, he had to make the decision with his head. With that, he eliminated Sister C. The three girls were gracious in their loss and said they'd keep going in the country world.

But that wasn't all: Simon addressed 1432 one final time, telling them "I can't live with this name". He asked fans to suggest names for the manufactured girl group via show's official website.
