Hudson - who was a contestant on the show in 2004 - was rejected and tipped for failure by Cowell.
When she went onto Oscar success through her role in Dreamgirls, Cowell accused Hudson of failing to appreciate the "big opportunity" her appearance on the show offered her.
But Best Supporting Actress Hudson snaps back, "If I'd been any better at my job when I was at Burger King in my middle teens I wouldn't be here either, so should I thank them too?"

L'actrice et fille du défunt producteur Aron Spelling a ouvert avec son compagnon Dean McDermott une auberge Bed and breakfast en Californie.
Tori Spelling et son mari Dean McDermott ont inauguré samedi 3 mars dernier leur auberge nommée La Rue, située à Fallbrook, en Californie. Les amoureux inaugurent en même temps leur émission de télé-réalité, Tori and Dean : Inn love, - un jeu de mots puisqu'en anglais "inn" signifie auberge -, qui suivra de près l'aventure dans laquelle ils se sont lancés.
L'actrice, ravie, déclare : "Nous voulions une auberge Bed and breakfast moderne et chic, pour les gens de notre génération. Nous avons hâte de nous occuper de nos invités en leur proposant des soirées à thème ou un cinéma en plein air sur la pelouse."
L'auberge ouvrira ses portes aux clients le 9 mars. Bien qu'elle soit dans le neuvième mois de sa grossesse, la jeune femme a décidé de mettre la main à la pâte : "Dean fera beaucoup de travaux manuels, au jour le jour. Comme je suis dans mon neuvième mois, je suis épuisée et ça va être dur pour moi d'être présente tout le temps. Mais comme j'adore cuisiner, je ferai plein de bons petits plats et je créerai les thèmes des soirées."
