MEET MELINDA SWARD, THE NEWEST CITIZEN OF HARMONY!
Pretty Crane has finally arrived in Harmony, ready to stir up trouble for her sister, Fancy. Meet Melinda Sward, the beautiful young actress who plays her!

HARMONY INSIDER: What was your reaction when you first heard you got the part?

MELINDA: I was a little nervous because both my agents called at the same time and tricked me like they had bad news, and then surprised me with the good news! I was so excited!

HARMONY INSIDER: Were you a fan of PASSIONS or another soap before this?

MELINDA: When I was in high school I was obsessed with "General Hospital," but I stopped watching after that. I started watching PASSIONS when I auditioned for it and loved it!

HARMONY INSIDER: Have you always wanted to be an actor?

MELINDA: I've always wanted to be either an actor or a teacher....but through the years I found that acting was a lot more fun and I had a lot more passion for it.

HARMONY INSIDER: What other roles have you had in your career?

MELINDA: I started out in L.A. hosting a music video show for the Fox Family Channel then I continued on to do a bunch of commercials and guest spots on shows. I got to work on "That 70's Show" which was really fun. I also starred in a pilot called "Do Over" which unfortunately only lasted 9 episodes.

HARMONY INSIDER: How do you like playing "Pretty" so far?

MELINDA: I love playing Pretty! It's so much fun to be the mean girl!

HARMONY INSIDER: How have your first few weeks on the set been?

MELINDA: It's been great! Everyone has been so welcoming and nice. The vibe on the set is always so fun and light-hearted, and everyone is really supportive.

HARMONY INSIDER: What's the craziest thing you've had to do on the show so far?

MELINDA: I got to get in a fight, which was pretty fun. I had a stunt double and got to do a couple of punches and slaps on my own - it was hysterical!

HARMONY INSIDER: Can you give fans a little glimpse on what to expect from "Pretty" in the near future?

MELINDA: People should expect to see quite a rollercoaster ride from Pretty. She is trying to figure out who her friends and her enemies are, and it's a little bumpy along the way...but it's definitely fun!

They’ve waited eight years to be together, so Theresa and Ethan speed up the process to make it official by eloping. “Theresa feels that by hurrying up, running off and doing it secretly, she has a better chance of having a victorious wedding, as opposed to having it crashed by her archrivals,” explains Eric Martsolf. And an unlikely helper steps in to make things happen. “Gwen enters the scene and basically plans the entire wedding,” adds Martsolf. Theresa’s enemy gets the wedding papers in order and even provides a gown. “Ethan seems to believe that Gwen is turning over a new leaf and has come to the conclusion that they all need to grow up and put their past mistakes behind them and be friends,” the actor notes. “Theresa doesn’t really feel that that is Gwen’s true motivation.” And, of course, she’s right. Whitney arrives in time to overhear Gwen and Rebecca plotting to expose the bride’s secret before the couple says, ”I do.” So Theresa arranges to have the devious mother/daughter duo locked in a bathroom. “For Theresa, it’s just about getting the vows out,” says Martsolf. “Once they become husband and wife, she has every intention of telling Ethan the truth.” The thrilled bride and groom prepare to exchange vows in a small ceremony with their kids, Pilar, Whitney and Chad in attendance. Then, to more guests arrive. “Kay and Miguel pop up—literally. But that’s not the only pause during the nups. “A Passions wedding wouldn’t be a Passions wedding without interruption,” smiles Martsolf. Ethan and Theresa interrupt themselves for a while. They have things they want to say, and Ethan keeps trying to slow things down because he thinks it’s going too fast and wants to cherish the moment. And because Miguel arrived late and didn’t see his sister walk down the aisle, Ethan insists that they do it again.” Eventually, Ethan and Theresa finally become husband and wife. “These two have been going back and forth for a long time, Gwen has signed the divorce papers and Ethan has made his intentions clear that he wants to spend the rest of his life with Theresa. There is no reason for a divorce in sight,” Martsolf says. “But there are always evil people out there who throw a wrench in their plans,” Enter Alistair Crane…

John Reilly returns as Alistair on 8/20.
Amy Castle has been cast as Esme’s niece, Viki. She airs on 8/20.

SOD:
Passions’s Alistair is alive—is Ethan dead?
After their wedding ceremony, Ethan takes new wife Theresa to a romantic inn, where they receive what they believe to be a complimentary basket of chocolate covered strawberries. “Theresa doesn’t have an appetite at the time because she wants to tell Ethan the paternity secret,” explains Eric Martsolf. So Ethan convinces his bride to take a bath and relax and then digs into the sweet treat, unaware that it is actually from an enemy. Alistair sent them and they are poisoned. Of course, Alistair meant for them to be eaten by Theresa because that’s her favorite thing in the world, but Ethan eats the whole plate of poisoned strawberries. The best part about it is, Theresa decides to tell him the secret and while she’s spilling her guts, he falls unconscious.” Theresa screams for help because the comatose Ethan is not responding and she cannot find a pulse. The only person who comes to the door is Alistair and I don’t think he’s going to be too much help. He’s angry. He has learned that Little Ethan is not a Crane and that she passed him off as a Crane. Alistair made Little Ethan his sole heir. Alistair is mad and out for some serious vengeance. Theresa happens to be on the top of his list. Theresa is obviously shocked to see Alistair alive. “What takes place in that romantic inn setting with Alistair is storyline changing,” assures Martsolf. “It throws a gigantic spin on the entire program. It is an episode that fans of the show will not want to miss.” Viewers will learn where Alistair has been and how he survived the explosion. “the beautiful thing about the program right now is that they’re wrapping some serious stuff up and answering a ton of questions,” he smiles. “They are going to leave a lot of questions unanswered, too, for the transition to Directv.”

Cathy Jeneen Doe will not be leaving the show and Simone will be recast. She was offered to stay on as recurring but turned it down.

What can we expect from Passions final weeks on NBC? We still have a few more shows to shoot. A lot can happen in a short amount of time and I think that’s what’s going to happen. Now, we’re onto Pretty and what Fancy has done to her. It’s been cool. This is about something Fancy has done as opposed to a carnal threat to their relationship.

Most of your time on Passions has been with Sheridan. What’s your take on the changes in her? From Luis’ point of view, he doesn’t know everything she’s up to, or hear the inner dialogue that’s going in her head. She feels like a scorned woman, and hell hath no fury! Luis can tell she’s a bit off, but he doesn’t see the extent. He tells her that she’s sick and needs help—professional help. She’s done so many terrible things in a short amount of time. It was a quick jump to this character. It’s strange to me and I don’t know if the audience can get past it.

There are still fans rooting for this pair. How long has it been since they were together? I would say six years? Forever. Has this couple ever fulfilled their dreams for more than a brief moment? But if the fans are still rooting for them, I stand corrected. They saw something special in this couple and it’s never ceased to amaze me how they’ve stood by them. The thing I always liked about this couple is that they always tried to be honest with one another. But now that’s totally changed. There’s so much baggage that this special part of the,--the undying love, respect and trust—is gone. I don’t know how she expected he’d accept her trying to kill his sister! Luis was established as his family’s support system and they’re the most important to him.

Is it fun to see McKenzie Westmore playing something so different?
Yes, but its problematic, because I’m not supposed to see the things she’s doing. Luis is oblivious to the fact that she’s lost her mind even though she sticking needles in dolls and walking around town with a flamethrower.

With the show about to warp for three weeks before the move to Directv, how are you feeling about the future? It’s great to still have a job, but there are a lot of changes coming. They have positioned it like starting a new job. Evidently, we’re working on one stage, we don’t have craft services anymore, and they’re saying the writing’s going to change. There’s going to be less action. So it’s going to be dialogue-driven. I’m a bit nervous but the exciting think is Directv is totally behind it and pumped about it. They’re putting out a lot of energy and faith in it.

What is the vibe on set? It’s a mixed bad. It’s weird, because some people are moving and some aren’t. Some lost their jobs and others left by choice. There are different things going on emotionally. It’s weird to see people you’ve worked with for nine years go. Human nature isn’t to be comfortable with change. It’s nice to get up, do the same thing day in/day out and know the person you see in the morning is going to be the same person you saw yesterday.

Is there talk of another baby? Jenna wants to have another one right now! Wow, can we just marinate in this for a minute first? She wants to have three. We’re in the negotiation period. I haven’t signed yet. It’s all about the details (laughs).

PASSIONS: Fancy is stricken as Luis finally learns that she is responsible for Pretty's scar. Esme's niece Viki arrives in Harmony, and we see Viki isn't your ordinary teenager. Viki communicates to the outside world by whispering her thoughts to Esme, who relays them for her. Alistair is furious when he learns that Little Ethan isn't a biological Crane. With the help of Alistair, Vincent escapes from his jail cell. Pretty realizes how much Sheridan has changed — from the delicate, considerate woman she was, to the cold, unfeeling Crane she's become. Ethan and Theresa begin their romantic honeymoon. Ethan talks of how much he would like to have more children with Theresa, especially a son of his very own. Theresa is determined to find the right time to tell Ethan that Little Ethan really is his son, but she can't bring herself to get the words out. Meanwhile, Gwen and Rebecca realize that Theresa can't be legally married to Ethan because Alistair is alive.

Il est rendu sur DirectTV, ben a partir de la semaine prochaine. Y'a aucun épisode cette semaine. Mais je crois qu'on a pas DirectTV au Canada.
