When Vanessa Marcil signed on for a role on Las Vegas, the actress had no indication that the show would be a hit, lasting five years. If she had known, her decision may have been different because of her dedication to spending time with her son Kassius Lijah, 6 ½. Now, Vanessa says she isn’t open to another series regular role because her son is “in school now, so it’d mean taking a lot of time away from him.”
In the meantime, Vanessa is content with “working at his school and [acting] a little bit” on the side so she can “balance it all a bit more while he’s young” because she knows her little boy is growing up fast. “He’s getting so smart and incredibly creative, and he says really profound things,” explains Vanessa — and that includes deep thoughts about his emergency c-section entrance into the world!
“The other day, he said, ‘Mommy, I’m really sad that you got your stomach cut open. That must have hurt.’ I go, ‘Yeah, sweetie, but I was in labor for two days, and it was worth it because you came out.’ [Laughs] He says, ‘Well, if I’m a woman in my next lifetime, I don’t want a birth canal.’ Um, what?!”
The 40-year-old is doing her best to make sure that her son stays grounded and thankful for all that is in his life — thanks to some profound advice gleaned from Oprah Winfrey! “‘The Grateful List’ is one of the millions of things that Oprah told me about when I met her at, like, 22 that kind of changed my life,” shared Vanessa. “Every night, I write down everything I feel grateful for. It’s hard to stay with any kind of negative thought when you realize all the things you have to be grateful for.” Kassius has learned by example and now he “has a little journal, and he writes down what he’s grateful for. It’s a great thing.”
Check out Britney visibly upset as she makes her way out of Center Staging in Burbank after rehearsals last night. Oh, I mean "she looks tired / annoyed by the paparazzi." Yeah... that's it.
I kind of hope she says "FUCK this tour" and just focuses on her babies and herself. But sadly, her world does not work like that.
Justin Timberlake and his BFF (and design partner) Trace Ayala will be bringing their William Rast line to Bryant Park on February 16 for NY Fashion Week, according to WWD.
You can bet that Jessica Biel will be there to cheer her man on!
William Rast, which is a combination of JT’s and Trace’s grandfather’s names, had its first show held at the Roseland Ballroom in September.
