Cérémonie hommage à MJ

Un conseil à ceux qui en ont soupé de Michael Jackson: n'allumez pas vos téléviseurs aujourd'hui. Pratiquement tous les grands réseaux retransmettront la cérémonie publique en hommage au roi de la pop, mort le 25 juin dans sa maison de Los Angeles.

À LCN, l'émission spéciale chauffée par Richard Latendresse démarrera à 11 h 30. Autour de lui, plusieurs collaborateurs, dont Pierre Marchand, Sonia Benezra, Mike Gauthier, André Ménard, Luck Mervil et le journaliste Maxime Landry, qui recueillera des témoignages de fans en direct du Staples Center. TVA relaiera cette programmation 100 % Jackson sur son antenne principale entre 12 h 30 et 15 h.

Chez le concurrent, RDI amorce sa couverture à 12 h 30 avec Marc-André Masson comme capitaine, épaulé par les commentatrices Rebecca Makonnen et Anne-Marie Withenshaw. Le reporter Frédéric Arnould vadrouillera sur place. Notez que la Première chaîne télé ne bousculera pas son horaire régulier pour saluer le chanteur au gant pailleté. RDI diffusera un résumé de 60 minutes des adieux à Michael Jackson entre 20 h et 21 h. MusiquePlus se branchera aussi sur la cérémonie à partir de 13 h.

Michael Jackson's family arrives at Forest Lawn

As crowds began streaming into Staples Center for Michael Jackson's memorial service, a caravan of cars and limousines carrying the Jackson family, escorted by California Highway Patrol officers, left Encino shortly before 8 a.m. and arrived minutes later at Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary in the Hollywood Hills.

The Jackson family will hold a private service at Forest Lawn before proceeding to Staples Center for the public service. Details of the Staples Center service, which was to begin at 10 a.m., were still emerging this morning.

LAPD Chief William J. Bratton said today Michael Jackson's body will be at Staples Center. It was unclear how his body would get from Forest Lawn to Staples.

At around 7 a.m., fans wearing gold and silver wristbands began streaming into an area around Staples Center that had been cordoned off by Los Angeles police. Approximately 17,500 tickets and wristbands to the event were distributed Monday through an online lottery system.
