They’ve been talking about remaking 1930s classic
“ A Star is Born” for years – well, rather, remaking it for a third time since it’s already been done a few times (the last time in the 70s with golden duo Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson). I remember at one stage Will Smith was supposedly attached to it, Jennifer Lopez too, and Beyonce was even in talks for it at one stage. And on the director’s side, Joel Schumacher was most recently attached to the project.
Now, according to Deadline Hollywood Daily, “Notebook” and “My Sister’s Keeper” director Nick Cassavettes (previously an actor – you’ll remember him in “Facebook”) has shaken hands with the WB in an effort to get the long-gestating project off the ground.
The studio are said to be chasing
Robert Downey Jr for the lead (at least we know he can sing!), and if he passes, “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm may get the offer.
On the other side of the coin, long-time fave
Beyonce is said to be still on the studio’s radar, whilst Alicia Keyes and Rhianna are waiting in the wings if the Bootilicious musician declines.
