Titan the Robot is the stage name of an android costume created by Cyberstein Robots Ltd in 2004, operated both physically and electronically by a human performer.
The costume is approximately 2.2 metres (7' 3") tall and 47 kg (7.5 st) and increases to 350 kg (55 st) including the performer and onboard equipment. It was designed by Nik Fielding, who runs Cyberstein from Newquay, Cornwall, England. Titan has performed at a variety of public and private events, from the Commonwealth Games and Alton Towers to bar Mitzvahs and shopping centres. Titan has appeared on Channel 4 television and BBC Children In Need.
When asked by The Times what skills potential performers would require, Nik Fielding replied "They’d need to be good at playing Xbox because that’s what it’s like in there."
Recent or notable performances
Live on stage with Rihanna, 2010
On March 3, 2010 two versions of Titan performed with the international pop star, Rihanna, at the ECHO Awards in Berlin, Germany.
On March 27, 2010, Titan also performed to a worldwide audience again with Rihanna, at the 2010 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.
The Rihanna performances received a lot of attention from the UK media including The Sun and Heat magazine.
The Gadget Show LIVE, 2010
7th and 11th of April 2010 he was used for comedy purposes during the annual The Gadget Show Live Super Theatre shows at the NEC in Birmingham.
Big Brother UK, 2010
6th July 2010 he was put into the bathroom of the Big Brother UK house.
