The Production Support Specialist is a creative problem solver whose troubleshooting abilities
are only outshone by your tech skills. This person will have worked in a system support role for a
couple of years, but will have been “thinking outside the box” for his/her entire life.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver frontline Linux and Windows production system support to hundreds of
servers (most of which are mission critical)
• Work with other highly specialized teams/individuals to keep production systems running
smoothly 24/7
• Troubleshoot latest Unix/Linux technologies
• Keep abreast of latest computing technologies and trends
• Provide timely and consistent support, acknowledging and recording all incidents and
requests
• Monitor and escalate requests as required
• Create documentation
• Additional projects as required
Requirements:
• 2-3 years experience in a Linux support role
• Knowledge of system security log facilities init and startup processes
• Excellent Shell Scripting Skills
• Working understanding of:
o Linux/UNIX, notable RHEL or CentOS.
o TCP/IP and associated services (e.g., DNS, DHCP)
o Apache/Tomcat/JBoss or other web services
• Exceptional troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Flexible to work a rotating schedule including evening and weekend shifts and rotating
on-call pager duty
• Related education/certification
